You’ll definitely want to have S’mores when you’re camping and it still is a crowd favorite. There are millions of good memories that have been made over the years when families sit together around the campfire and make these sweet treats. Your dessert menu doesn’t have to end there and you can combine lots of other favorites for delicious camping desserts.
Try dipping fresh strawberries in marshmallow fluff and then roasting over the campfire. It is the most heavenly experience when those sweet berries meet the creamy fluff that has been just gently browned over the fire.
You can make most of what you’ll need for apple crisp at home and bring it with you. Toss the dry ingredients into a sealed bag or jar. Add oatmeal, brown sugar, white sugar, spices, and some flour. Then, when you’re at the campsite you can peel some apples, cut the dry mix into some butter, layer it all in a sheet of tin foil and cook them over the campfire. Delicious.
Fruit and pudding parfaits are always popular and are a good way to get the kids to eat fresh fruit. You can use paper cups for simplicity. Layer canned pudding, fresh fruit, and granola in the cups. The kids will eat them right up.
You can even make cookies when you’re camping without too much fuss. Bring along a couple tubes of chocolate chip cookie dough. You can spread it in a cast iron skillet and cook it over the campfire. Then drizzle it with a glaze you made from cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a little milk. You’ll have one large cookie and something sweet to top of your meal.
Your camping meals will be even better if they end on a sweet note. We look forward to seeing you here at the campground this summer so be sure and say hello when you arrive.
